ABOUT TOEFL

Definition
TOEFL stands for Test Of Home as a Foreign Language.TOEFL is a standardized English language ability of a person in writing (de jure), which covers four aspects of mastery: Listening, Writing and Reading.TOEFL scoring system using the conversion of each correct answer. The highest TOEFL score one can achieve is 675.

TOEFL Test Objectives
TOEFL has two general objectives are: Academic and General. In the same form, TOEFL certification recommendation could use for both.Academic tests are used for educational purposes, research or related academic activities abroad, or in Indonesia. For post-graduate, usually a minimum value is 550. while for S1 is 500
General is generally used for the purpose of employment, promotion or job assignment.Many companies that install the English language standard employees by looking at TOEFL score - his. Generally, a minimum TOEFL score is 500 for a standard promoted.
As far as I encountered, the range of TOEFL scores - average Indonesian people with minimal education level S1 is very volatile. There are even some who do not know what and for what it is TOEFL (they read: "tufl"). Not so with the decision-English majors in college. At least they know what is a TOEFL. However, TOEFL score of a student or graduate English majors does not guarantee high. In some cases recruiment times, I found some applicants get the TOEFL score of 300, whereas in the proposal, the person concerned is an alumni of the ABA (Foreign Language Academy).While in general, fluctuations in the average TOEFL score - rating ranges from 300 to 600.

Did someone guarantee the TOEFL English language skills a person?
Generally, people understand that language is English speaking, conversation, cas cis cus and so on. Language english cover the four main skills: Listening (digestion word through hearing), Writing (digestion words through writing and grammar), reading (meaning a digestion text language) and speaking (able to pronounce it).
Speaking of language acquisition, it can not be removed from the mastery of four skills earlier, are perfect. However, many of them think, what matters is the ability to say it, even with a full-tolerance grammar and word choice are modest and the origin met.

For example:
John      : Would you drive me to the hospital?
Us         : Better go now ....
From the meaning of the conversation, saying it has a meaning. But we also know, the quality of a person known by the way he speaks, especially the use diksinya (choice of words).
At that time there is some trick that I use for high TOEFL scores, namely:
1. I have one book written for the record, some vocabulary or new words in English in one day. Try at least 10-20 vocab every day from various "parts of speech" is noun, verb, adjective, adverb and, of course;

2. The most difficult part of the TOEFL is the Usage (another name for the Grammar). For example, when to put "a" and when to put "the" in a sentence, sometimes very confusing. When to put the noun, when to put the adjective in a sentence, is also sometimes difficult to understand. To find a book that every new TOEFL either from purchased or borrowed from friends or libraries, part of his Usage I type it on a piece of paper that for long form Database. At one point, only to Usage, I have a 2000-3000 sample questions! Unfortunately, after I went to the USA, I inherited it to a friend who is now a collection of my Usage dont know where the place;

3. If you're lucky, try to find a book titled "Mastering the American Home". I once had a little book, which I bought in a bookstore in front of the campus IPB Batik Baranangsiang. It contained only the exercises put "part of speech", and especially exercise when put "a" and "the" in a sentence. On the back of the book is the answer key. I write with a pencil exercises, and checked the answer key.Unfortunately this book is also something borrowed, and did not return ... ;-(

4. TOEFL second hardest part is "Listening". Try to catch one keyword (keyword) in listening Listening question. From there you could know that talking about the weather, kitchen, doctor appointments, school, or what? In addition to listening, your eyes should also be skimmed quickly possible answers written on the paper TOEFL exam. If you are a miss because you can not guess well, skip it. Later if there is a time can be repeated again, although the narrow time. Try listening to the radio often English, English-language film (which translates the text part is covered with masking tape, or if it is DVD or VDC, select the text in English). If you watch a movie in English, try to copy the existing simple dialogue. For example, "what's up doc?". "Not very good ..". and should ..

5. Finally, the easiest on the TOEFL is Reading. Practice your reading skills from reading newspapers such as The Jakarta Post the minimum, or read USA Today, The New York Times, The Straits Times, or The Herald Tribune if it's in your library. Diligent buy a monthly magazine Reader's Digest. Or if you are already an advanced again, read the Times or Newsweek weekly magazine (here's my two cents: the Times and Newsweek have very different writing styles between the two!). Try to practice with reading problems Reading is easy you read or that match your interests. That is, if your background Science and Engineering, then you certainly easier to read about it, and not about Sociology or Politics, and vice versa ..
Oh yes, back to the TOEFL book recommendations. In my opinion the best equipment "Barron's TOEFL". But, over time, all good TOEFL book because it discusses from a different angle.
Gitu aja. Let's speak bahasa now. Besides improv your bahasa, Also set up your goals. It's better if you set the first goal, for example applying for a Master's or Ph.D. study in the U.S.. In that way, your motivation to study bahasa Becomes Greater and attain higher TOEFL score ...
Eh, English sayah already started pabaliut euy .... Understand, had not been eating bread and cheese!
